Player of the week, Hassan Greenfield

Easton coach Ben Childs didn’t know what he was going to get out of junior Hassan Greenfield this season.
“He has been in the program for a couple of years, played JV last year and began the year for us coming off the bench and getting limited minutes,” Childs said. “But when Tyler [Jean-Baptist] went out with some academic issues, Hassan got to play more. And he has really taken advantage of the opportunity.”
Now, even though Baptist is back, Childs can’t take Greenfield, a 6-foot-1 guard, out of the lineup. The Rovers went 3-1 last week with wins over Parkland, Allen and Whitehall and Greenfield has been a key to the team’s resurgence. He averaged 17 points in the three wins, including 24 against Parkland.Greenfield
Hassan has really stepped up in this run,” Childs said. “He and Shane Simpson share the point guard position and he’s doing a really good job of handling the ball. He plays bigger than he is because he’s got real long arms and is active on defense with a lot of deflections and rebounds. Against Parkland, he had 24 points and about half of them were off offensive rebounds. He gets a lot of hustle points.”
Childs also likes Greenfield’s demeanor.
“He’s a real good kid,” he said. “He’s very coachable and buys into what the coaching staff is trying to do. He has been a pleasant surprise.”
