Shippensburg is at least a 2-hour ride from most spots in the Lehigh Valley.
However, you might consider the Red Raiders' to be an area school when it comes to football.
That's because this year's Shippensburg football team will feature seven freshmen from the Lehigh Valley, including four who were members of Central Catholic's four consecutive District 11 3A title teams, or at least part of the program during the Vikings amazing run.
The seven freshmen to watch for are:
Allen's Zak Dakes, a 5-11, 180-pound defensive back.
Central's Colin McDermott, a 5-11, 190-pound running back, who set school, league and District 11 records with 6,301 yards rushing in his career and 84 touchdowns, including 3,121 yards and 40 TDs last season.
Central's Andrew Englebert, a 6-1, 250-pound offensive lineman.
Central's Oscar Ghasab, a 6-2, 275-pound offensive lineman.
