Saturday softball recap and updated LVC, Colonial and MVC standings

FROM KEITH GROLLER

The focus was on the Colonial League on Saturday where a very tight race is shaping up after Pen Argyl which has separated itself from the pack.
Here's a recap of all of Saturday's games:
COLONIAL LEAGUE
Pen Argyl 6, Northwestern 2 -- Tigers were eliminated from district playoff consideration and this probably has to be considered a disappointing year for a program that always is above .500. However, give Northwestern credit for showing some spunk against Pen Argyl. Freshman pitcher Lydia Danner, the daughter of legendary Tigers hurler Candace Snyder, shows promise and both Lyndsey Papp and Stephanie Papp had extra-base hits.
Palmerton 1, Catasauqua 0 -- The play of the Bombers defense and the pitching of freshman Kendra Pekurny were impressive. Meanwhile, the Rough Riders have now lost three straight and are in danger of slipping out of the league playoff picture.
Wilson 7, Southern Lehigh 5 -- I have seen the Spartans twice this season and both times one bad inning just buried them. Last year, Solehi started poorly and finished strong. Spartans will need another strong finish to get into the league tournament.

Nazareth 8, Stroudsburg 4 -- Blue Eagles continue to swing hot bats. Jen Loftus, Molly Calabrese and Brooke Lichty combine for seven of team's 12 hits.
East Stroudsburg South 7, Central Catholic 2 -- Rachel Guffy goes 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles in the defeat for CCHS.
Northern Lehigh 13, Pocono Mt. West 3 -- Lexy Barrett, Jocelyn Filchner and Kianna Marlatt all had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs, who are very much still alive for a district tournament berth.
