FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

After spending nearly $100,000 to improve storm drainage at the Nazareth Area Middle School, the district will spend another $10,000 to remove large stones that percolated up from the ground and ended up along the perimeter of a school athletic field.
District Superintendent Dennis Riker said referees noticed the rocks on the field last fall during a high school soccer game and called off the game. Riker said there were no reported injuries due to the rocks. The field lies between the high school and middle school.
Only the track team uses the area in the spring, and Riker said students are being instructed to jog around the field.
The school board on Monday authorized Slatington-based Dirt Work Solutions to remove the stones and regrade the field.
