IndyCar series expected to return to Pocono in 2013

http://www.mcall.com/sports/motorracing/mc-indycar-pocono-0928-20120928,0,1419923.story FROM THE MORNING CALL Indy-car racing, which defined Pocono Raceway's identity 41 years ago but eventually lost its position to a burgeoning NASCAR empire less than 20 years later, appears to be coming back in 2013. Pocono Raceway Vice President Bob Pleban sent an email Friday to media outlets about a news conference Monday that will have a "major announcement concerning the Pocono 2013 schedule." Mario Andretti, 1969 Indianapolis 500 winner and 1986 winner of a CART 500-miler at Pocono, Ed Carpenter, winner of the most recent Izod IndyCar Series race and IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard will attend the announcement at 10:15 a.m. Monday along with Pocono CEO Brandon Igdalsky.
