Allentown Halloween Parade on Sunday postponed due to weather

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

The annual Allentown Halloween Parade has been postponed from this Sunday until next Sunday due to weather, city officials said this evening.

The rescheduled parade will still start at 2 p.m. at the Allentown Fairgrounds. It will then march along Hamilton Street to Seventh Street.

Eleven bands including seven from Allentown schools were initially expected to participate.

This year’s theme is “A Witch’s Brew: All the Ingredients for an Allentown Halloween Parade!”

Organizers for the third year will pay tribute to past and present members of the U.S. Armed Forces, and several military organizations will participate.

School marching bands, nonprofit floats and marchers compete for a top prize of $500 for each judging category. All school marching bands will also receive a $400 stipend, city officials said.

For information, call the city's parks and recreation department at 610-437-7750.
