Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company to break ground on new headquarters

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

The Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company is planning to break ground Saturday on its new headquarters, 155 Firehouse Lane, this weekend.

The fire company was established in 1958 by a handful of concerned residents and has since grown to include fire police, emergency medical services and a ladies auxiliary.

The company provides around-the-clock fire protection and basic life support ambulance support for about 7,500 residents, which spans an area of 25.08 square miles. The company also provides assistance to surrounding communities when requested.

The company responds to about 300 fire or rescue calls and 600 EMS calls annually.

According to members, money to build the structure has been raised over the last several years, affording the volunteers a minimal mortgage.
