Missed this one from the Express-Times over the weekend about the 5th graders American History project at the Intermediate School.

Social studies teacher Rhonda Fehr said the projects grew out of the students' lessons on why Europeans came to America.

The assignments for Friday's event focused not on the big historical events of the time, Fehr said. Instead, they focused on the culture and livelihood of the everyday colonist.

For the project students dressed as people did in colonial times and took on roles of the people during that time.
